Unless you're a factory insider or have better pit access than we've ever had, its extremely rare to see the behind the fairing of a current factory racer with this degree of detail. Here's the Aprilia RSV4 Max Biaggi rode to two third places at last weekend's SBK races in Qatar.
It seems like every time we look at the RSV4 there's something new to see. This time, we don't know what half this stuff is supposed to do, but it sure does look neat. Of particular note is the cool geometric engine webbing, the overwhelming number of sensors and potentiometers attached to parts ranging from the steering damper to the rear shock (think it uses Öhlins Active Suspension?).

Great shots Cap
Bolt missing on the clutch cover.
The little blue "steering damper" could be a steering input sensor for data logger

Running a linear potentiometer on the "sterzo" - like why? OK, I suppose u could gauge bar waggle with it..... or how many degrees off centre it had to be to turn an arc around turn 6; but whatever happens, the idea is surely that Max makes turn 6? (and duzznt run straight on... )
Let me know when you all want that fork, shock or steering damper - but u may not like the price tag so much... :lmao:

too much pron huh?! :lmao:
Potentiometer be measuring distance and speed covering it - so shock type might tell ya it stroked 30mm and moves at 0.2m/sec - etc etc, I am sure you can all see the uses...

It's not to do with a replacement for the TPS? Measuring airflow?

LOL .... re the size, I don't know what happened. I got them off a website that showed them the size they are now, but when I posted them up they turned out HUGE ... and I mean HUGE (like 3 times the screen). Great detail, sure, but just too big.
Yet this morning they are back to normal size :confused1: go figure. All's well that ends well.
BTW, did anyone notice the sensor in the clutch cover?

There seems to be some rumours about the Aprilia and its eligability to be in World super's , with some people saying its more of a MotpGP bike...........Wonder if its because its going so well fresh out the box !!! We will see when its available in the shops i guess

When i was inquiring about a motec dash on my motard the tech said i could spend upwards of $50k just on sensors etc if i chose to plus labour fitting them.
Its a work of art any SBK or GP engine.

Read in a Pommie mag that they have to pre-heat the engine oil before starting the thing!

They do the same with F1 engines, pre-heat all the fluids and leave it for a while as the engine is "seized" when cold.

Do they have to, or do they just do it to baby the motor a bit?
