I've been looking around at all these naked 1000 sports bikes coming out.
I'm a big fan of the naked look even on a bike. :)
Just wanted to know what you all thought about em?

What floats your boat?

Go the Z1000. I've had mine for 6 years. Bought one the first ones in the country and clocked over 66000k's on it.

Ride it to the island every year. Great bikes through 25k to 55k bends. They do good monos and are a great all rounder.

I'll even build you a set of wicked loud pipes like mine.

They're not to shabby around OP either.See below.

Once the parts finally fucking arrive so I can build it my choice will be my GSXR1000K5 Fighter. But for production ones, the Brutale 1078RR and the Bimota DB6R.

And I was glad to read in AMCN that Ducati might have to drop the Streetfighter name for the new bike. It definitely isn't a Streetfighter.

Yeah it's bound to upset someone. Maybe the owners can use some spare $100 bills to wipe away their tears, if they have any left after buying their ludicrously expensive bike.

When I see a bloke pandering around on something akin to an MV Agusta, I can't help but think they don't know how to spend the money efficiently. It's absurdly more expensive than the leaders of the pack but doesn't offer any advantage other than a brand name and hairy armpits. As such Ducati can stick their Streetfighter that isn't a Streetfighter up their arse. A real Streetfighter bike is what it is. Making overpriced naked production bikes that are labelling themselves as streetfightered is gay.

It's not that hard, I'm sure there's a few others on this thread that have done it and can give advice.

Heres a 94 model GSXR750 I did. It cost me $1200 including rego and paint job to make this a fighter.

Ok, here's a perfect example of why major companies should stick to what they know. That bike is an embarrasment to the name streetfighter. No creativity, no originality, no style and no traditional 'streetfighter' components eg, raised tail, rental style bars, evil looking front light mask. Pathetic.

You want to own a streetfighter, build it yourself. Any other way your a tool.

Streetfighter is for stripped down bare bikes of all makes.

It's like the yanks trying to copyright Ugg boots.

There is nothing original about the Ducati, it follows all other makes design cues.

Not terribly, otherwise they'd be selling a helluva lot more bikes. The last time I saw the annual sales figures across the motorcycle industry Ducati were not exactly at the bottom but they were pretty far from the top.

Well they're a much smaller manufacturer. What you need to look at are the sales figures (growth) and profit (healthy), particualrly when the others are posting losses, or close to, slowing production and shrinking sales.

WTF... :confused1: "no originality and no traditional 'streetfighter' components" in the same sentence, sounds like a contradiction to me

There there, i know it must hurt trying to figure out something you don't understand. I've heard it can be painful.

True streetfighters are created by combining either self made parts or already made parts made by streetfighter enthusiasts. To make your own streetfighter you must be creative and original by combining traditional components in a way that is different than the next. By traditional im talking about German inspired (and usually made) fairings, Renthal bars, fat tyres, custom rims, loud f*ck off exhaust system, bling parts like risers, levers, mirrors, pegs, seats, front & rear masks and many other billet parts.

In one way, you are right. Streetfighters are very contradictory, and that's what makes them original. There is only one rule to streetfightering, and thats there are no rules.

... show me a ducati streetfighter that looks like the new ducati streetfighter, pretty original i'd say.

Your right, I cant find one. No one in the world would waste their time creating something like that...well, unless it was to increase sales and cover a niche market...

If it annoys you this much, buy one and trun it into a "real' streetfighter then.

Why? Ive already done the hard yards to make 2 of my own that look a shit load better than that. That thing is ugly as f*ck and doesn't deserve to be massacred any more. May it rest in piece.

This is thread about your preference of naked bikes, not what you consider a streetfighter to be or not.

Fair enough and your all entitled to have your opinion, as am i.

But that aint a streetfighter, and when the term 'streetfighter' is used inappropriately, i will always put in my 2 cents whether you like it or not. Streetfighter culture has come a long way and deserves the respect it has earned.

Streetfighter creators pride themselves in designing their bikes from the ground up using as small amount of pre-made and factory made parts as possible. For a major company like Ducati, or any other brand for that matter, to step up and make a full factory made naked sports bike and call it a streetfighter, is a direct slap to the face of every streetfighter creator worldwide.

Any how back on topic. Im sure you'll love the FZ1, I think it suites the taller rider, only thing you notice is it lacks bottom end, Ive fixed that with a 16t sprocket and speedo healer, also there known to have a snatch under 5000rpm when backing off throttle which is really noticeable after you go down a tooth, that can be fixed with a Fuel cut eliminator. all that cost me was about $450 all up and what a transformation that made, I find that it will blow the triple away, Ive test rode a S3.
Any way if I bump into you next ride Im happy to let you go for a fang on mine. Or PM me if you want to meet up for a ride:ayyy:

+1 A mate of mine has one. We rode at 150MPH over some Scottish mountains and the Fazer was the fastest and best suited for fast road work. I was on a 636 and others on Mille RSVR, Duc 748, CBR6 and a Hayabusa (fucking so fast on the straights that corners don't matter)

Fit some Renthal bars, R1 brakes and some good suspension and this is a really good bike for all occasions.

The ducati, the KTM & the MV are to expensive for me.

Ive had a ride on the ZRX1200 CB1000 & an XJR 1300. Although they are a bit dated, I think they still have the essence of the older bikes & thats what I likes about them..
For me I'd go the ZRX, close 2nd the XJR1300. The XJR has the Ohlins suspension which is a plus. The ZRX is a bit angey'r & a little more sporty, & has a bit sharper handling. Both are great for comfort. With the XJR a 9/10 & the ZRX 8/10. The CB is just to heavy & underpowered for my liking. Although it was really good comfort wise.. I could be wrong, but thats how it felt.
You can pick up all of these bikes with low Ks for under $10000 Bargin in my books. If your looking for a weekend scratcher & a weekday comuter.:mod_smilie_hitit:

Unless thing have changed, that's what you can ride in Italy when you turn 14.

EDIT:
It's been much too long, I'm sure I'm wrong about that .... I think it's 50cc that they can ride, not 150. Either way, it's a brliiant idea as it gives teenagers the mobility they need without having to rely on parents to take them everywhere.
Something like this would be pretty cool (Derbi 50cc):
